Welcome to the
Springfield Green Team Outreach Program specializing in Urban Environmentalism. For years we have been educating the public about the negative effects of pesticides in our environment as well as other factors. We have planted grass, flowers, cleaned parks and river banks in all three regions of Massachusetts as well as Washington D.C.
We ended up taking a break due to the need to retain autonomy. Formerly
Groundwork Springfield, we were poised to be in charge of Western Massachusetts however it was decided there would be a conflict of interest as far as the level of independence we would have. It's best we do our own thing and rebuild on our own.
Currently, we are beginning the fundraising stage for said rebuilding so we become our own independent organization. We want support from the community and it will be returned in kind through our projects as it should be. The problem with some other sources is that strings often come attached. It's best our strings be attached to the community and we work together like a community is supposed to.
The Springfield Green Team will be part of launching the True Sustainability Initiative. The Green Team will do what it has always done but the True Sustainability Initiative will add a new dimension by planting new trees, using new technologies to fight air pollution, exploring urban farming plus regular water and soil sampling as part of the T.S.I. Nature Guard Project.
The word "true" must be thoroughly understood in this world of duality. Everything you know has two meanings and it's important to understand that we want to empower the community but you must equally understand that some people and organizations are actually using environmentalism and terms like "sustainable development", "smart growth" and other vague terms to suit their own financial goals. It is vital we start making changes in our consumption, attitude and food choices because there are people out there that want to make those changes for us and you will not like that very much.
The True Sustainability Initiative includes but will not be limited to:
Pesticide / GMO Education with Preventative Health Care Options
Greenhousing
Interactive PH Experiments
Interactive Cymatics
Urban Farming
Solar Water Generation
Entrepreneurship
Music
